What is a Moderator?
A moderator is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the users on Habbo Discussion. Moderators use their judgement and guidance from internal policies to take appropriate action on users failing to comply with the forum rules. Moderators have an appropriate amount of tools to deal with troublemakers and do not hesitate to use these tools. Moderators respond to post reports as and when they come in and as and when a moderator is available.

How do I identify a moderator?

A moderator has an orange username and has a moderator user band displayed under their usernames in forum posts.

Who makes up the HD Moderation Team?
HD has a wonderful set of moderators to keep HD safe! Our current moderators are Vince, swan and 2009. Feel free to PM any of them if you have any questions!

Can I have a name change?
Moderators are not responsible for the administration of users; therefore you must contact an administrator in order to receive a name change.

When is my signature too big?
To prevent the forum becoming ‘tacky’ we have introduced signature limits, for regular users you are allowed a signature no greater than 500pixels wide and no taller than 200pixels – this is inclusive of text and quotation boxes.

Exclusive members are allowed a signature which is no greater than 500 pixels wide and no taller than 250pixels, again, inclusive of text and quotation boxes.

If your signature is too big it will be removed and you will recieve an infraction.

How do I check and see if my signature is within the limits?
Here are some quick tips to check and see if your signature is within the limit (500x200 Regular members, 500x250 Exclusive members)

If you have Firefox, you can right click the image, and click properties

Same goes with IE, just right click the image, and click properties

Now if you have text below, above, or to the sides of your image, you can simple check the dimension by:
- Click your name to view your profile
- Press the Prt Scr button on your keyboard
- Open MS Paint and paste the image.
- Select the Marquee select square (second button top row)
- Select the area below the title signature

The dimension will appear in the lower right hand corner

You are always welcome to PM one of the moderators and ask them if your signature is within the limits.

Can I become a moderator?
Moderator positions become available as and when additional team members are required therefore we ask that you keep an eye out in the forum announcements section. This is where we would announce applications. If you are new to our forum, lack team member skills or have very little moderation experience it is unlikely you would make our team.

What should I report?
Here's a run down on certain things we'd like you to report...

1) When a thread needs moving - if you think a thread is in the wrong section, report a post in that thread and suggest where you think it should be. It's 20x easier to report it than to post in that thread saying 'this is in the wrong section' - so just report it! And we'll take care of it swiftly.

2) When a thread needs closing - if you're a thread starter and want your thread closed, simply send a post report and we'll happily close it. Again, no need for you to post in the thread requesting it to be closed - just report a post and request it there! However, if your not a thread starter and you see the thread starter requesting it to be closed - report that post to us and we'll close it (so long as we see the thread starter has asked for it to be closed).

3) When a post needs deleting - sometimes people may post and later decide to change their mind and delete the contents but of course, they don't have the permissions to delete it themselves. If you come across someone who has requested their post to be deleted - help us out - send a post report! We'll ensure its deleted. If you're exclusive, then you have the permissions to delete your posts yourself.

4) When a thread seems to be going off the trails - if there's a lot of flaming going on in a thread or its gone way off topic, attempt to report the first post which may have triggered it all off - we'll take care of it from there. We may close the thread, delete all the inappropriate posts or delete the thread in its entirety.

5) When you see an inappropriate avatar/signature - if a signature is rude, offensive, sexual, too big please let us know via the report a post tool. Same goes for avatars.

6) Suspect multiple accounts? - Report one of their posts, we'll use our tools to determine if they are and take appropriate action.

7) Report any posts that contain inappropriate material. Harrassment, racism, sex related comments, drug related vocab, swearing, posts that are rude to others etc.

8) Basically, anything else that is against our rules and should be brought to our attention. Of course, anything against Habbos terms and conditons should also be alerted to us.

Some tips when reporting...

1) Try to speak properly and in a well structured manner. We want to be able to respond to your report as quick as we can the only way we can do that is by understanding what is wrong in the shortest amount of time. If we have to read your post report several times then it will delay us.

2) Please and thank yous are just common courtesy - try to use them - "PLEASE close..." "I'm being harrassed take care of it PLEASE, THANKS" etc.

3) Keep it to the point - we don't need a life story - just need to know what is wrong and who is involved (and if it's only that one post then we already have that information available to us)

4) Only report the post once. In the past several users have reported the same post 3 or 4 times because nothing has been done - we judge whether action needs to be taken, so if nothing is done just accept we've looked at the report and have decided not to take any action. We do read every single post report we get and judge it. You can also check the status of your reports by Clicking Here.

5) Remember the report a post button isn't the neg rep button

Report a post VS Reputation
Not sure which button is the report a post button and which one is the reputation button? Here's a short guide to help you out!

Reputation button:

This button will rep the person. You can leave a comment and only the person will see it. Be careful though because if they choose to report you for an offence rep, we can and will issue a warning/punishment depending on the nature of the reputation you sent.

Report post:

This button is to report a post that you think is inappropriate for the moderators to take a look at and issue a punishment/warning if needed.

What are infractions?
When you break a rule, a moderator will give you an infraction. This leaves a log in your profile and automatically sends you a PM. Moderators and administrators are able to see all infractions logs, but you are only able to see your infractions logs. The numbers of points the infraction is worth depends how serious the rule you broke is. Once you reach a certain number of points you will automatically be banned for the appropriate amount of time.

How long until my infraction expires?
It depends on what the infraction was for and how serious it is. Minor infractions can expire within a month or two. Certain serious infractions won't expire until 6 months, and some may never expire. Once your infraction expires, the number of points it's worth will no longer count toward your total.

I think an infraction I got was a mistake, what should I do?
If you feel one of your infractions was a mistake and would like to appeal, you may do using the Help Center . Remember to always keep calm and polite - our moderators are only human and it's normal that they make a mistake a two.

What infraction chart do the moderators use?

Below is the current infraction chart that our moderators use. It will be re-worked every couple months.
